Former WDMA Chairman and former Loewen CEO Al Babiuk passed away suddenly this past weekend. Al's commitment and contribution to Loewen and the association cannot be overstated.

With his outstanding energy and vision, Al was able to lead Loewen with courage and integrity through some of the most challenging times the building industry has ever experienced. His passion for improvement extended deeply into the industry and community with contributions to WDMA, the Business Council of Manitoba, and the Associates of the Asper School of Business.

"Aside from being a strong business leader through some tough times, Al was a trusted business partner, community supporter and genuinely good person of highest integrity. For many of us, he was also a friend. It's difficult to overstate Al's contribution to this company and the people in it," says Clyde Loewen.

“WDMA is greatly saddened by the sudden passing of Al. His contributions to the industry were numerous. He was generous with his time and insight and a pleasure to work with on behalf of the association and the entire industry. He will be greatly missed," said WDMA CEO Michael O'Brien.
