[Washington DC-8/6/2015] - The Window and Door Manufacturers
Association (WDMA) applauds the introduction of legislation today in the
U.S. Senate that would reform the Environmental Protection Agency's
(EPA) Lead: Renovation, Repair and Painting (LRRP) Rule to reduce the
burden the rule has placed on the home retrofit market while protecting
pregnant women and small children from lead hazards. The "Lead Exposure
Reduction Amendments Act of 2015" (S. 1987) was introduced by Sen. Jim
Inhofe (R-OK) and 2 original cosponsors. Sen. Inhofe is the Chair of the
Senate Environment & Public Works Committee, which has jurisdiction
over this issue. This bill is a companion piece of legislation to H.R.
2328, introduced in the House of Representatives by Rep. Kevin Cramer
(R-ND) earlier this year. Read more.

WDMA 2015 Architectural Door U.S. Market Study. This report provides
data and insights needed to understand the industry's performance, key
trends, and future direction. The report is based on extensive industry
input for product shipments in 2014 and was prepared, researched and
analyzed by Metrostudy, a Hanley Wood company, and the Virginia Tech

WDMA is pleased to welcome the Polychem Corporation as the newest member
of the association. Polychem Corporation, established in1974, is a prime
manufacturer of securement packaging products i.e. plastic/cord strapping,
corner protection board, strapping equipment, tools, and accessories. The
majority of their products are manufactured in the U.S by Polychem or
Polychem-owned companies. The company is also vertically integrated in the
manufacturing of (PET) polyester strapping, which is made from 100 percent
recycled plastic beverage bottles at their Evergreen Plastic division. Polychem
currently serves the window and door industry with specialized angle side seal
strappers, wide and narrow arch bottom seal banding machines and corner

[Chicago- 4/16/15] The Window and Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA), in cooperation with the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) as the program operator, has completed the development of ISO-compliant Product Category Rules (PCR) for interior architectural wood flush and stile and rail door leaves. Manufacturers can begin using and referencing these PCR immediately. Read more.

Yesterday, EPA's Administrator signed a final rule to extend certifications for certain individual renovators (those who received initial certification prior to March 31, 2011) under the Lead: Renovation, Repair and Painting (LRRP) Rule. The extensions only apply to individual renovators who must get recertification training within the time frames explained below. They do not apply to firm certifications or individual renovators that need their initial certification. WDMA had strongly advocated for an extension of the deadline. Read more.

[Washington, DC- 3/25/2015] - The Window and Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA) is pleased to announce that its new leadership team was installed today at the WDMA Spring Meeting and Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C. At the meeting, the WDMA Board of Directors elected Al Babiuk of Loewen Windows as the association's 2015-2017 chair. Babiuk replaces outgoing Chair Steve Donner of Weiland Sliding Doors and Windows, an Andersen company. Read more.

The WDMA Technical Conference has been renamed and expanded into the WDMA Technical & Manufacturing Conference in 2015. The conference will be held in Minneapolis, MN from Tuesday, June 16 to Thursday, June 18, 2015. The program is comprised of two and a half days of informative technical sessions reporting on current industry research, trends in manufacturing processes and procedures, and emerging product technologies.
