Linetec Joins WDMA

[WASHINGTON, DC - 6/1/2016] The Window and Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA) announced today that Linetec is the newest member of the association.Linetec's mission is to be Finisher of Choice for its customers through industry-leading reliability, value-added services and convenience. Linetec is highly focused on the needs of the architectural and residential market, with 95% of its customers being manufacturers of windows and other exterior building products. Linetec's finishing offering includes liquid fluoropolymer, powder coat, anodizing, and specialty finishes such as wood grain, copper anodizing, brushed/electropolished anodizing, and two-tone finishes. Linetec also offers a full suite of related services for one-stop convenience for our customers, including thermal improvement, stretch forming, flat sheet supply, fabrication, custom packaging/kitting, field repair/restoration, and door-to-door trucking service for LTL and full loads. WDMA Applauds Senate Passage of Comprehensive Energy Legislation

Key WDMA-Backed Amendment on FHA Energy Efficient Mortgages Included 

[Washington, DC- 4/21/16] - The Window and Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA) applauds the U.S. Senate for voting today on final passage of The Energy Policy Modernization Act (S. 2012) by a vote of 85-12.  This legislation makes several updates to the nation's energy policy and an amendment backed by WDMA was agreed to before the final vote.  The inclusion of the amendment coincided with a WDMA member advocacy push on Capitol Hill during the annual WDMA Legislative Conference earlier this week, highlighting the impact of grassroots advocacy and its impact on legislation. WDMA Announces New Portal to Speed TDI Evaluation Reports

[Chicago, IL- 4/13/16] - The Window & Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA) will release next month the third phase of the WDMA Hallmark Certification Programs Client Information Portal (CIP) to facilitate an electronic method to submit and process an application for a Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) Evaluation Report.  This system, which is available to any manufacturers certifying products under the WDMA Hallmark Program, should help shorten the time it takes TDI to produce an evaluation report. WDMA Applauds New LEED Pilot Recognizing Additional Wood Certifications

[Washington, DC- 4/8/16] - The Window & Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA) applauds the U.S. Green Building Council's (USGBC) issuance of a new LEED pilot Alternative Compliance Path (ACP) for sustainable forest management certifications.  The move means that wood products with the Sustainable Forestry Initiative® (SFI®) Program certification are qualified for credit in both LEED 2009 and LEED v4 systems.  The ACP also recognizes the American Tree Farm System (ATFS) and other programs endorsed by the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC). The USGBC announced the new ACP this week as part of their quarterly addenda to the LEED green building rating system. Read more.

WDMA Applauds New Fannie Mae Program to Finance Energy Efficiency Improvements

WDMA Has Long Sought Improved Energy Efficiency Loan Options

[Washington, DC- 4/6/16] - The Window & Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA) is applauding Fannie Mae for the introduction of the new HomeStyle® Energy mortgage, an enhanced option for borrowers who want to finance energy efficiency improvements to their home.  Borrowers with an existing, higher-interest energy improvement loan can more easily roll that loan into a new mortgage or into a refinance of an existing mortgage.  In addition, borrowers will have options to finance new energy upgrades when purchasing or refinancing a home.  The HomeStyle Energy mortgage can be used on 1-4 unit properties, including condominium units, and is available for all approved Fannie Mae lenders. EPA Releases New Rule Simplifying Lead-Paint Training Recertification

WDMA Sought Greater Use of Online Training Options  

[Washington, DC- 2/12/16] - The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced a change to the refresher training for renovators currently required under the Lead: Renovation, Repair, and Painting Rule (RRP).  Specifically, EPA will allow renovators to take a refresher course without mandatory "hands-on" training, such as online courses, once every other recertification instead of every time.  This action comes after a direct advocacy effort by WDMA and others, which included meetings with EPA and the White House's Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to provide industry knowledge and recommendations. WDMA ACTION ALERT: Tell Your Senators to Support Key Industry Amendments to Comprehensive Energy Legislation

Support Achievable Building Energy Codes and FHA Mortgage Guidelines Recognizing Energy Efficiency

The U.S. Senate could vote on key amendments at any time to the Energy Policy Modernization Act of 2015 (S. 2012).  WDMA is seeking inclusion of two amendments that are of importance to the industry. The first is an amendment that clearly defines the Department of Energy's (DOE) role in model energy code development and guarantees that certain products and technologies are not given preferential treatment.  The second is an amendment to ensure more accurate mortgage underwriting for energy-efficient home features by the Federal Housing Administration (FHA).
